Allison McMinn attended the 16th International Conference on Mid-Infrared Optoelectronics: Materials and Devices (MIOMD 2023) at the University of Oklahoma on August 6-10 2023. During the conference, she delivered a presentation titled: ‘The Design of Optically-Addressed Monolithically-Integrated Multiband Photodetectors Using Type-II Superlattice Materials’.

Tyler McCarthy attended Compound Semiconductor Week 2023

Tyler McCarthy attended Compound Semiconductor Week 2023 (CSW 2023) in Jeju, Korea. During the conference, he shared our group’s excellent work on Group-IV compound semiconductor MBE growth through the oral presentation: “SiGeSn Alloys: From MBE Growth to Quantum Transport and Photodetector Applications”.

Razine Hossain Joins the Team

Welcome Razine. Razine graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and will be staying to pursue his direct-PhD in Electrical Engineering at MBE optoelectronics lab. His current research interests involve exploring novel semiconductor materials, development in optical detectors and detection, and solar cell technology. Razine became a Fulton Fellow and received the Fulton Fellowship and ASU’s Palais Design and Moeur Awards.  He is a current research intern for Sandia National Laboratories and was a Department of Energy SULI student. He will finish his internship and return to our lab on August 7th.

Xiaoyang Liu Joins The Team

Welcome Xiaoyang. Xiaoyang Liu is a second-year physics Ph.D. student. He finished his first-year lab rotation and decided to join MBE Optoelectronics Lab. He received his M.S. degree in condensed matter physics from Brown University and a B.S. degree in astrophysics from the University of Science and Technology of China. His previous work included 2-D material synthesis, topological insulator modeling, quantum fluctuation in superconductors, and big-data astrophysics. His current research interests are solar cells, MBE growth, and simulation of semiconductor devices.

Dr. Zhang and Zheng Ju Attend SPIE Photonics West 2023

Dr. Yong-Hang Zhang and Zheng Ju attended the SPIE Photonics West (PW 2023) in San Francisco, CAThis international conference and exhibition is the world’s largest photonics technologies event which focuses on lasers, biomedical optics and biophotonics technologies, quantum and optoelectronics. Innovation, research and insights about emerging technology were in the spotlight, presented by world-class researchers and industry experts. Our group had the privilege of sharing our recent work through a talk presented by Zheng Ju on “Enhanced second-order nonlinear susceptibility in asymmetric type-II quantum wells”.

Zachary Goisman Joins the Team

Welcome Zak! Zak is a junior dual majoring in EE and Physics at ASU and is interested in the “Physical Electronics and Photonics” portion of Electrical Engineering.
